Managing Depression – A Mental Health Discussion
Managing depression isn’t easy, and for many people it’s especially tough during the holidays. This past fall I sat down with my friend Kevin for a discussion in our Thriving with Depression series, with a focus on mental health. While our discussion wasn’t centered about the “holiday blues”, I think you’ll find it to be helpful no matter when you may be having a tough day.
I’ve known Kevin as long as I’ve known my husband, he’s an incredible guy, awesome dad, husband and friend. He’s also a licensed Marriage Family Therapist with a refreshingly honest perspective on mental health and how we can work towards balance.
In the video below we sat down and discussed mental health, mental illness and how to help your friends, family, or better yet, yourself! Don’t take “I’m fine” for an answer. It’s never fine, and even if they’re smiling, look for the five signs that give you the confidence to assert your support.
I hope if you have a little time you’ll check out our conversation. We’re not into sugar coating, but we’re into helping and and giving real support, resources and sharing life lessons so others can manage, beat and thrive with depression.
