Are you a granola fan? Yes?! Then you’ve come to the right place to learn how to make peanut butter granola! This has become our family fave for clean granola and it couldn’t be easier!
Now, first things first. We need to discuss the peanut butter. I am a big believer that the best way to make this is with homemade PB or at the very least a natural version. It keeps the oats a tad on the softer side. Don’t worry, you still get great crunch and texture, but it won’t get dry and flaky on you (unless you overcook it).
Here are the steps!
Gather your ingredients, be sure you’re using raw, high quality honey and old fashioned oats along with your homemade peanut butter. (You can use an optional 2TBS of brown sugar as well, but you really don’t need it.)
We all know how tricky honey can be. So, here’s my secret to being able to get all of it out of the measuring glass. Spray your glass with cooking spray first. Then the honey slides right out!
Place your oats in a large bowl and set aside. Add your peanut butter to your honey and heat them up in the microwave for about 30 – 60 seconds. You don’t need them hot, you just need them to be warm enough to mix together smoothly. Add the honey/PB to the oats and mix until everything is combined. If you were adding brown sugar, mix it in with the honey before adding to the oats.
Once it’s all mixed together, just plop it out on a lined baking sheet.
Smooth it out a bit. You don’t need to worry about it being in clusters, you’ll be able to break things up once it’s done cooking.
Now, pop it in the oven at 325 degrees for 18 minutes. You can stir it half way if you so desire. Now you have to trust me at the 18 minute mark. You’re going to think it’s still not cooked through because it’s a little soft. That’s what you want! As it cools, it’ll harden up, then you break it into clusters.
Once it cools, break off any other large clusters and store in an airtight container for up to two weeks. If it lasts that long!
There ya go Gang. Just that easy to have a homemade version of your fave granola while controlling all the ingredients!
