Hands down this is the fastest way to shred chicken! I know we can all shred chicken by hand, but why dirty two more forks and spend 3-5 minutes doing it, when your mixer will do it 30 seconds flat?!
Hope you enjoy a few of these fun faves of mine. I only pick items I love and use, so you can trust that they will not disappoint! We do share affiliate links and make little income when you buy items, this way I can keep trying new things and sharing them with you!
Let’s get Shredded!
To be honest, I saw this method for how to shred chicken on social media a half dozen times before I actually tried it. Some of the videos looked messy and like it might be more trouble than it’s worth. But, out of pure desperation a couple months ago, I tried it. I hate to shred chicken by hand and I was crunched for time. It literally took less time to shred my chicken breasts this way than it’s taken you to read this so far!
So, let’s get to it so you can use this #kitchenhack now! I have found that this works best with chicken that has either been baked in the oven, Instant Pot or slow cooked in the crockpot because the chicken stays super moist, that in turns makes it easier and faster to shred.
This particular week I just did baked BBQ chicken. Popped 4 chicken breasts in an oven safe dish, smothered in BBQ sauce and let them cook at 350 for about 40 minutes.
Once your chicken is cooked through (cut open a piece to check or use a meat thermometer). Pop them in the bowl of your mixer. I use my Kitchen Aid mixer with the paddle attachment. I have seen this done with a hand mixer as well (maybe I’ll try that next time…). Turn it on low and within 30 seconds, you have shredded chicken ready for the week!
Two quick tips:
First, just do two chicken breasts at a time. In the video below (ps. don’t forget to subscribe to our channel…please ;)), you’ll see that I did all four, and it rocked the bowl around got a little messy. Still turned our great, but two would have worked even better. Secondly, lock your bowl in place. 😉
That’s it! Shredded chicken in 30 seconds flat! Store it in an airtight container and you’re good to go for the week. This method for the fastest shredded chicken works perfectly for my Chicken Green Chili and Homemade Chicken and Wild Rice Soup recipes too!
Let me know how it goes!!
